Artist's Statement

I have loved painting for as long as I can remember and I love to spend time looking at paintings. |

I find inspiration while walking or driving in the countryside surrounded by nature's unpredictable forms, tones, colours, sounds and lines. Here I sketch and take photographs, then in my studio I transform these into ideas for paintings. I get great satisfaction from squeezing paint out of its tubes, from the nutty smell of cold pressed linseed oil mixed with pigment, and from the possibility of mixing an infinite number of tones and colours, but most importantly; painting satisfies a creative force within me. |

We have been blessed with far too many wonderful painters for me to mention all the artists who are important to me and whose work I treasure, but I can say they all have one thing in common; a love of painting, which fortunately is infectious! |
